5 Activities To Do Over Zoom To Ensure Your Virtual Hanukkah Party Will Be A Hit

Hanukkah is a time of year for people to connect with their family and friends to come together to celebrate.  Even if you can’t be in the same physical room as loved ones, that doesn’t mean you should skip out on the festivities and traditions!  Throw a virtual Hanukkah party and amp it up with these five activities that work great over Zoom!

Light The Candles And Say The Prayers Together Over Zoom

Don’t let being virtual get the way of your family traditions.  Lighting the menorah is an important aspect of Hanukkah, and is a custom that can be shared over Zoom with your family members. You can connect virtually all eight nights and have everyone light their menorahs together while saying the prayers over Zoom.

Have A Virtual Dreidel Competition With Plenty Of Gelt

Dust off your dreidels and have a competition to see who is the best dreidel spinner.  Through some gelt in the virtual pot to see who will make it to the next round based on the luck or skill of their spin.  Best part of it all, chocolate!  Since everyone is virtual, they can’t actual take away your chocolate gelt and after the competition is over, you can enjoy eating lots of it.

Liven Up The Party By Playing A Virtual Hanukkah Trivia Game

Trivia is a great way to test your knowledge and learn a little bit more about the history of Hanukkah, so divide into teams and play a game of trivia over Zoom. You can do a couple questions each night when you connect to light the menorah, or you can do a longer game if you’re only going to have one family Zoom. While you might want to center some of the questions about Hanukkah or Jewish history, include some creative questions as well like “what does the gimmel stand for on the dreidel?”.  Whoever, answers the question first, gets a hefty handful of gelt!  If you’d rather not organize the game, or you also want to take part in trivia, let the team at Bar None Games run the trivia session! We have Hanukkah trivia packages that will work perfectly for your group!

Party It Up Over Zoom With Your Favorite Jewish Singers

Put a Hanukkah playlist with some of your favorite Jewish artists. Throw on some Paul Simon or Neil Diamond, or turn on some Billy Joel and have everyone in your family sing the chorus to Piano Man!  Better yet, if you haven’t heard Adam Sandler’s famous Hanukkah song that is one that you can’t miss out on.

Have Your Bubby Teach Everyone How To Make Her Famous Latkes Over Zoom

If you can’t gather for a meal, make the same meal when you’re far away from one another so that it feels like you’re sharing the same experience. Pass down a family recipe over Zoom and have your family connect virtually.  Let bubby explain how she makes the latkes that everyone always fights for when you gather in person. Cooking not your thing? Use our food and beverage packages to order some latkes to everyone in your group so that you can still connect over the same tastes!
