4 Ways To Boost Remote Employee Productivity

Productivity while working from home can be tricky, which is why managers are always looking for new ways to boost productivity in different ways. You want to motivate your employees and give them the tools they need to succeed and maintain a high level of productivity without also getting burnt out. But what are some of the best ways to maintain a high level of productivity and boost it in areas that are lagging? Below, we share four tips for boosting employee productivity whether they are in the office or working from home.

Provide A Budget To Make Sure Each Team Member Has A Good At-Home Setup

Invest in your employees so that they can invest in their health and their productivity. Work on allocating some of this year’s budget towards improving your team’s at-home setup. Let them pick out a new office chair, or install sit-to-stand workstations so that they can complete their work in a position that is comfortable to them. If your employees are comfortable, and they see that you are willing to improve their at-home setup out of the company’s budget, they’ll be more motivated to continue working at a high level.

Schedule Regular Weekly Check-Ins

Weekly meetings may seem like they slow productivity by taking an employee away from their work, but when used correctly, these weekly check-ins can boost both morale and productivity. When you have these meetings, ensure that they aren’t one-sided conversations. You’ll want to convey your expectations and go over anything important that’s coming up in the near future, but you also need to make sure you listen to your employees. Ask them what you can do to make their job easier, or if there is anything that’s currently hindering their ability to perform their job at the highest level. Listen to what they're saying, take notes, and let them know that you’ll do everything in your power to ensure they can do their job to the best of their abilities.

Allow For Flexible Schedules

In today’s day and age, work is no longer just a 9 to 5 job. That’s not to say that employees always need to be ready to answer emails at any hour of the day, but a lot of work can be performed outside of standard work hours, so consider letting your employees be a little flexible with their work schedule. Everyone is trying to juggle work, family and social life in different ways, and if you can be a little more flexible into how work fits into a person’s life, they’ll be more appreciative of their position and be motivated to show that this flexibility doesn’t go unnoticed. Set clear expectations, but know that not everyone works best in a 9-5 role, so lean into this instead of making it an unbreakable standard.

Have Consistent Team Building Activities

Enjoy regular team building activities so that everyone on your team can connect and interact with one another in a more casual setting. Consider adding a team building activity to the calendar once a month with different events to allow your team to let loose. Do team trivia one month, have a happy hour the next, or switch it up and do a show and tell event.  Find new and creative ways to get your team members interacting with others, because improved communication will only serve to improve productivity.
