Zoom has made it so much easier for organizations to conduct business and friends to video chat with one another, but it’s also a great medium for playing games like trivia. You can run a trivia game on Zoom to connect with friends or family from across the country, or you can use it as a team building experience for your business. Today’s blog focuses on the latter, and we’re going to share some tips for how you can use Zoom to host the perfect team building trivia event.

Gather A Set Of Trivia Questions That You Can Ask Your Group - Get Creative With Different Question Formats

If you’re going to run the trivia event by yourself, you’ll first need to develop some questions that will be fun and challenging for your audience. Before you dive into the actual questions, get creative with different types of questions. For example, when we run a trivia event for a group or organization, we typically have a music round, a picture round and a general question round. Don’t just read off question after question, challenge their other senses with visual or audio cues.

Share Your Screen So That Everyone Can See The Trivia Questions And Jot Down Their Answers

Another way to run a seamless trivia contest is by putting your questions onto a Powerpoint presentation and sharing your screen with everyone on Zoom. This way they’ll be able to easily read the questions and can privately or publicly submit their answers to you on Zoom’s chat feature. Use the screen sharing feature to your advantage when running a trivia game on Zoom.

Utilize Zoom’s Breakout Room Features To Split People Up Into Their Trivia Teams To Collaborate

Zoom has another helpful feature known as the breakout room. This allows the moderator to separate attendees into different digital rooms where they can communicate and share with one another without being heard by others outside the room. This feature is perfect if you have a bigger group and you want to separate them into even teams. Use these breakout rooms as miniature think tanks for groups before they submit their official answers.

Keep A Running Tally Of How Teams Do So That You Can Reveal Who The Final Winner Is At The End Of The Game

Finally, make sure that you keep a running tab on your end to see how each team is doing. After the final question, take a moment to add up the scores and announce which team takes home the crown. We’ve also found that it can be fun to award the winning team with a small prize like a gift card or lunch. To the victor goes the spoils, so line up a little reward and let the winners know that their hard work doesn’t go unappreciated!

If you really want to dazzle with a trivia game, or if you just want to partake in all the fun yourself, sync up with the team at Bar None Games and let us run a trivia session for your group. We’ll handle all the questions and answers and the scoring, you just bring the guests! We’ve run countless team building trivia exercises, and we’d be happy to host a game for your group.
