August 2023 workplace holidays to have on your 2023 workplace events calendar

  1. Single Working Women’s Day

  2. National Nonprofit Day

  3. National Tell a Joke Day

  4. National Women’s Equality Day

Single Working Women’s Day (August 4)

Take this holiday to recognize and celebrate all of the single working parents at your company. This day recognizes all of the contributions by single working women and the unique challenges that they face, and is important to include in your 2023 workplace events calendar. Celebrate and appreciate all that they do for your company!

National Tell a Joke Day (August 16)

Having National Tell a Joke Day on your workplace events calendar is a fun reason to get everyone together and take turns telling a joke or two. Start by having one person go first, and then let the rest of your coworkers take turns. Be sure to keep the jokes light-hearted and appropriate for the workplace. You can even make it a competition by having everyone vote for the funniest joke. Celebrating National Tell a Joke Day with your coworkers is a great way to build camaraderie and encourage teamwork.

National Nonprofit Day (August 17)

This day recognizes how much nonprofits contribute to our society. You can celebrate this with your employees by having everyone vote on a nonprofit organization for your company to make a donation to. Or, use this day to organize a volunteer activity with your employees. You can either give all of your employees a day off to volunteer at an organization of their choice or organize a group-wide event where everyone can go together to volunteer for the same organization.

National Women’s Equality Day (August 26)

This is a day that celebrates the women’s suffrage movement. Use this day authentically to have conversations as an organization to ensure that there is women’s equality at your own workplace. This may include ensuring there are equal healthcare benefits, enacting salary equality policies, and inviting speakers to the organization to discuss unconscious biases and how to counteract those biases.
