Pride Month
Every June, people all over celebrate the LGBTQ+ community with Pride Month celebrations. As a LGBTQ-owned business, we love celebrating Pride Month and including it in our workplace events calendar! Get your employees together for a fun-packed hour with our Pride-themed trivia event, or check out our other ideas on how to celebrate Pride Month at work.
Welcome Summer Interns
June is often the month when many summer interns start. Whether it’s university students or graduate students, it’s always an exciting time when there’s new folks at the company. Create an engaging new summer intern onboarding schedule that’s inclusive of both training materials as well as company team building activities. Ice breakers are an awesome way for new people to get to know others at the company, or host a fun and games event to create opportunities for casual connections to be made.
National Running Day (first Wednesday in June)
Many companies have a movement challenge where you track steps and whoever gets the most steps wins a prize. For National Running Day, you can implement the same type of challenge to encourage a healthy lifestyle. Encourage employees to get out of work early and hit the pavement, whether it’s just for 10 minutes or if it’s for 10 miles. Whoever can clock in the most time moving this day wins a prize!
Take Back the Lunch Break Day (third Friday in June)
The working lunch has become all too common. Many workplaces have a culture where they work through lunch, or their only “lunch break” is walking to the kitchen to microwave a meal or leaving the building to quickly pick up a grab-and-go lunch. Celebrate Take Back the Lunch Break Day by adding it to your workplace events calendar, blocking out an hour on all of your employees’ calendars, and encouraging them to use the full hour to enjoy their lunch. Having a proper break in the day can make a huge difference in employee morale and well-being. For virtual teams, you can host a lunch get together where your group eats lunch together via Zoom and play a fun game.
Juneteenth (June 19)
Juneteenth celebrates the freedom of all enslaved people in the United States, and it’s important to have on your workplace events calendar. On June 19, 1865, Union Army general Gordon Granger proclaimed freedom for enslaved people in Texas, the last state to do so and thus marking the emancipation for everyone in the US. Sometimes called America’s Second Independence Day, it is certainly a day to celebrate and remember the hardships of those before us. We’ve designed a special Juneteenth trivia game that is educational and engaging to help you celebrate.
