Whether you want to entertain your team during the holidays, have fun with friends spread around the world, or enjoy a game night with family, Family Feud is one of the best games to foster connection.

It’s important to connect your team regardless of their location - and that’s why playing Family Feud on Zoom is such a great idea. This game will not only help you know your teammates, but also create some funny moments.

But what is Family Feud, how do you play it, and what are some popular questions to consider? We’ve got you covered.

What is Family Feud?

Family Feud is a well-known TV game show that pits two families against each other in a pleasant yet competitive match.

There are five people in each team or family. There are three rounds in total, and the game is usually won by the team that wins all three or two out of the three (the goal is to receive the most points!). Additionally, the winning team can receive awards or prizes. It’s an excellent game for team building, and it’s bound to bring out your coworkers’ competitive spirits.

How is Family Feud played?

The game consists of three main rounds, as mentioned above. In every round, a random question is asked, and the player has to predict the most likely responses. These questions are not necessarily factual, nor do they have any obvious right answers. Instead, a survey of 100 people is used to determine the most popular answers. The top  are chosen, and they are also sorted in order of popularity. A team receives points if they correctly guess one of the answers. The more popular answers/responses receive more points than a less popular one.

How do you host Family Feud over Zoom?

One way to play  Family Feud on Zoom is by coming up with your own questions and answers. Here’s how to play Family Feud on Zoom under this method.

Brainstorm question ideas with the team

There are many ways to brainstorm ideas for a Family Feud  Zoom game. One way is to have the team come up with a list of questions they would like to ask and then vote on their favorites. Another way is to have each person come up with a few questions, then let everyone else vote on which one they think is best. Whichever way you do it, the goal here is to get as many favorable questions as possible. You can organize these questions in a Google Doc or on paper.

Form your teams

In the game, there are two teams of players.. However, you can form as many teams as you’d like according to your group size. It’s also important to give each team a name to make it easy to differentiate one from the other and also track scores (plus, it adds to the fun!).

Share the leaderboard  with all participants

Whichever way you choose to  keep scores should be shared with the teams so everyone can keep track of the score in real-time. This allows for the teams to stay on the same page and know how they are doing at all times. Seeing how the other teams are doing will also bring out some fun competition.

Start the meeting on Zoom

Once you have your scorecard, questions, and teams down, you can start the Zoom meeting with everyone in the group who will be playing the game with you. You can choose whatever size team you’d like, but we’d recommend ~6-8 players per team (you should tweak this depending on the size of your team). Also, remember to share your screen so everyone can see.

Set a timer

Now start your PC’s clock application in the background, then select "Timer" mode. Set a timer for 20 seconds so that teams can have that much time to answer. You can also make it 15 seconds, especially if you’re a large team. This can also be done on a phone if you’d like.

Start the game

At this point, you’re set to begin the game. Simply call one person from each team, and use the clock to time your opening question. Play the game as usual while writing the responses on the whiteboard as you go. You can erase the results of a round and start over after it has ended.
