How to play Jeopardy on Zoom with your remote team

Remote employee learning how to play jeopardy on zoom

Working remotely has its perks, but it also comes with new challenges - one of them being the sense of isolation felt by many employees. As a result, many teams use virtual team building activities to create camaraderie and build lasting relationships. Luckily there are many video conferencing apps and tools, such as Zoom, that make it possible to organize activities for these remote teams. One of our favorites is playing Jeopardy! How do you make a virtual Jeopardy game?

Playing Jeopardy on Zoom with your remote team is a great way to foster team building, create meaningful work relationships, and help your remote employees beat boredom and isolation while having a good time. Here is how you can make your own Jeopardy game for Zoom with your remote team.

Choose a game mode and question categories

To get started playing Jeopardy on Zoom, sign up for an account on the official Jeopardy platform and then choose your favorite game mode - “general knowledge,” “general trivia,” or “quiz.” Once you have chosen your game mode, it’s time to choose the category of questions that you want to play. Each category has a variety of questions with ranging difficulty levels, so there is something for everyone!

Get a host or MC for the game

It’s a good idea to have a host for your game session. They are the one who will keep the game interesting and exciting, while also ensuring it runs smoothly. The host should be enthusiastic, excited about playing games, and have a great sense of humor. Additionally, they should be willing to play multiple roles in the game and keep up with the speed of play (you can always get your team member to volunteer for this role).

Set rules for participants

As a leader in your team, set guidelines  for your team when playing virtual games. This will help prevent any confusion and ensure that everyone is enjoying the game. Some rules to consider include - establishing time limits for answering questions, creating a fair point system, and no cheating. These rules will help your game run smoothly and will make sure that everyone is having a good time.

Create your Zoom meeting link and send invites to participants

Create a Zoom link and invite your team members. You can share the Zoom link on your company’s Slack channel or send it through an email to all members, outlining dates, details, and what participants need to get ready for the game.

Start the game

Once it’s time for the game, give a few minutes to wait for all participants to join. Once everyone joins, the host can start the game by welcoming everyone, explaining the rules of the game, and starting the first round. They should regulate the game while also making sure everyone is included and having fun.

Host your own Jeopardy game on Zoom

Get ready to test your trivia knowledge - hosting your own Jeopardy game on Zoom is the perfect opportunity to get everyone in your team involved and encourage team-building relationships..
